Mrs Margaret Asumah is an experienced Legal Practitioner with over 30 years Post Call working experience.
She has worked in the Directorate of Civil Litigation, Commercial Law, Administrator General and Public Trustee and the Directorate of Public Prosecutions as an Assistant Director and Deputy Director respectively until she was appointed as Director and head Lagos State Ministry of Justice Public Advice Centre in June 2015 and now Director and Head Directorate of Advisory Services.
She has in the course of her career in the Ministry of Justice served in various Committees, notably amongst them are
- The Committee on the effective implementation of the Audit Law 2011.
- The Special Planning body to monitor the cases of awaiting Trial persons stalled or slowed in the Criminal Justice system and to ensure speedy dispensation of such cases in Court and
- Secretary to the Committee on the Reform of Criminal Procedure Law of Lagos State which metamorphosed into the Administration of the Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State 2011.
She was also an associate Editor of the Lagos High Court Law Report published by the Lagos State Ministry of Justice.
She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the International Bar Association, International Society for the Reform of the Criminal Law and a full member of the Chartered Institute of Mediator and Conciliators of Nigeria.
She holds a degree in Law (LL.B.) from the University of Ife, (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile- Ife) and Certificate of Call to the Nigerian Bar (B.L.).
She was born on the 31st of January 1958 and is married with children.
