MRS. FUNMILOLA ADESOLA ODUNLAMI – SOLICITOR-GENERAL AND PERMANENT SECRETARY

Mrs. Funmilola Adesola Odunlami, is a product of Queen’s School, Ibadan and a graduate of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) where she obtained her LL.B and LL.M Degree and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1983.

She started her career in the Legal profession at the Ogun State Ministry of Justice in 1984 as a State Counsel Grade II in the Directorate of Public Prosecution.  She transferred her service to the Lagos State Ministry of Justice in 1987 and was posted to the Directorate of Civil Litigation where she was till December 1990.

From there she was posted as a Senior Legal Officer to the Office of Administrator General and Public Trustee (AG&PT) where she was for six years until she was posted to the Directorate of Commercial Law in 1996 as a Chief State Counsel.

Mrs. Odunlami rose through the ranks to become Director of Commercial Law Directorate in 2006 and in addition is the first Registrar Limited Partnership Lagos State.  She was a member of the Lagos State Arbitration Review Committee, Lagos State Land Use Charge Law Review Committee and the Chairman of Rural Micro Water Schemes Standing Committee amongst others.

She has attended many training programs both locally and internationally which include:

a.     Drafting Commercial Agreement and Banking Documentation.

b.     Investing Banking and Capital Market Operations.

c.      Workshop on Negotiating & Drafting of International Commercial & Investment Agreements.

d.     Advance Mediator Skills Training.

e.      Understanding Gas & Power Developments in Emerging Markets.

f.       IP3 Project Management and Procurement for PPP Projects

Mrs. Odunlami has been involved in negotiation and drafting of many Contract agreements on behalf of the State Government and was part of the legal team involved in the negotiation and drafting of the Concession Agreement for the Lagos Infrastructure Project.  She was also part of the team that successfully defended State Electoral Commission in respect of various election petitions held between 1990-1997.

She is the Assistant Secretary of Ikoyi Baptist Church and Treasurer of her Housing Estate.  She is also voracious reader, who also loves playing the organ and dancing.  She is a mother of two.
